The coveted 1st ever "Rocker of the Night" award goes to:

The fellows and I (Jamie and Chris) continued our long tradition of rocking out. Tonight's venture was to see Queensryche primarily, and it just so happened that Judas Priest was headlining the show. The show was at Darien Lake's satisfactory amphitheater.

Queensryche started promptly at 7:30 pm and opened with..something. I have to admit I'm not to familiar with a lot of their music. Don't get me wrong, I like it - I'm just not too familiar with their catalog. I did however know a few songs, "Queen of the Ryche", which I believe was off their first album a hundred years ago. They sounded pretty well - and they played something from their upcoming sequel album, Operation Mindcrime 2. I don't recall the title...."something America" or "Americans..." They only played an hour - which was not enough.

Priest came on about 20 min after Queensryche. I've never seen them live, so I didn't know what to expect. They pretty much rocked. For not being a Priest fan by any means, I actually knew, or at least had some familiarity with most of the songs played. Halford hasn't lost a bit - his voice is as loud and powerful as I ever recalled. For the beginning of the 4 song encore, Halford rolled out on stage on his bike - They closed off the show with "Hell Bent For Leather", "Painkiller", "You Got Another Thing Comin" and "Living After Midnight". For not being a 'fan' I seem to have a good enough knowledge of their works...Odd. And yes, they also played "Breaking The Law" earlier in the show. They played for about 2 hours.

All in all I would have liked to have seen a bit more from Queensryche, but the show was over all pretty good.
